I have a ford 1320 (sorry I don't know the year) that I am currently borrowing from a friend that is having some problems with the pto engagement lever. The lever is extremely hard to move when you wish to engage or disengage the pto. I know from previous usage that the lever was always a bit stiff, but now it's to the point where you really have to lean on it for engagement, and once it's actualy "popped out" of engagement during use. I know this particular tractor hasn't been serviced real well but it only has about 450 hrs on it so it hasn't seen a whole lot of use. Is there something that might need lubricating? I actually purchased the FO-46 Ford shop manual but I can't seem to find anything that deals real clearly with the engagement linkage.

Very good information. Basically I was able to borrow this tractor from a family memeber to do some bushogging. It's kind of a long story but he couldn't tell me himself how to check the oil, which is probably a pretty good indication of the quality of care this thing has (not) received. I felt guilty and zerked it completely before returning it but it could defintely use a little TLC...

Ok, I'm a little confused on some of the manufacturer's drive systems and could really use some help understanding this. The Boomer brochure talks about the optional front wheel drive (FWD) while Kubota talks about four wheel drive (4WD). So does the Boomer really have just a front wheel drive system, or when you engage this are you still driving the rear wheels and essentially getting four wheel drive?
Also, if you have a four wheel drive tractor, is there any disadvantage to running in four wheel drive all of the time, or should you just engage it when you need it?
